This is a Gorgeous 45+ square foot whole leather hide that is wonderful. It's about 1.2 mm thick, about a 3 oz weight. This leather is classed as a "Pull UP", and is a lovely Cognac color.
Pull up leather refers to a leather that derives its colors from dyes, oils and waxes. When this leather is pulled during upholstering, the oils / waxes dissipate, and become lighter in the areas where it is pulled tight. This gives it a wonderful worn weathered look, that some refer to as distressed or even better... AGED.
These hides are full of character, and sure to please.
You don't need a special machine to sew this leather. All that is needed is a home style sewing machine, a leather needle and upholstery thread. (Available at any sewing store). A quilting foot or "walking foot" is also a nice thing to have. They sell for about $20. and are easily obtainable.
